What is a NOL Card?

How to apply for replacing a lost NOL card?

1. For an adult resident of UAE, it requires only front and back side copy of their valid Emirates ID. Next is a white back ground Passport Size photograph.
2. If an adult is under ‘People of Determination’ category, other than documents mentioned in serial number 1, copy of Sanad Card or document issued by competent authorities of UAE stating that the person comes under ‘People of Determination’
3. If the adult is on visit and under ‘People of Determination’ category, everything is same as mentioned in Serial Number 2. But, instead of Sanad Card Copy, a copy of document from competent authorities of their country is to attach.

Language for applying Lost or New NOL Card

The application to replace a lost NOL card or a new one, it must be in Arabic or English only.  Any other application or part of it, should translate into Arabic or English and legalized before submitting it online.

How to Apply for NOL Card for Children and Senior Citizens?

Students and Senior citizens can also apply online through RTA website for a new NOL Card or replacing a lost one.  The procedure and documents required are as follows:

1. A student in the age bracket of 5 and 23 can apply for NOL card with front and back side copy of valid Emirates ID. Then a white back ground passport size photograph and copy of an official document proving he or she studying in a recognized school or educational institution.
2. For senior citizens, it requires only a white back ground photograph and front and back side copy of a valid Emirates ID

What is the cost of replacing a NOL Card?

AED 70 is the charge of issuing a new NOL Card by RTA.  In case of replacing a lost card and any balance amount was there in the previous lost card, the same will be transferred to the new card after verification.

Cost of replacing NOL Card of People of Determination

The replacement of NOL Card or Issuance of NOL card to a person under ‘People of Determination’ category is free.

How to check NOL Card Expiry date?

To check expiry date of NOL card, one can use the Parking machines installed all over Dubai car parking slots.  If the metro or Tram station is nearby, you can check the balance there also. Check balance and expiry date of the Card by inserting or tapping the card at the ticketing machine at station.

What is the time required to replace or issue a NOL card?

After furnishing all the valid documents to issue the card, RTA takes only 10 minutes to process the card.  All the balance was there in the lost card also will be there in the new card.

All government and private sector employees must take the new insurance policy introduced by the UAE government with effect from 1^st January 2023.  It is a new move my Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization to make people live a standard life even when in job lost situation.  The insurance policy will support the insured employee for three (3) months of job loss period.  The salary or remuneration for the period will be sixty percent (60%) of the employees’ salary.  There are certain job loss cases that are not covered by the policy.

All Federal Government employees and private sector employees who had subscribed to the Job Loss Insurance plan will get the protection.  But there are some conditions.  The job loss should not be on disciplinary reasons.  Also, if the job loss is due to a resignation, it is not covered.  Further, those who are not getting a job within the 3 months protection period, the subsequent months without payment are not covered.

Not all can subscribe to job loss insurance protection.  Following are the categories exempted:

• Free Zone employees.
• Investors i.e., Owners or partners of companies they work at.
• Domestic helpers.
• Temporary contract workers.
• Juveniles under the age of 18.
• Retirees who are entitled to a pension and joined a new job.

Terms and Conditions of Job Loss Insurance Policy

• Protection benefit shall be provided for maximum three consecutive months. 
• Only those who pay the monthly premium for at least 12 consecutive months.
• The monthly compensation is 60 per cent of the average basic salary.
• This calculated based on most recent six months prior to job loss.
• Total 12 monthly benefits for an employee during his or her work in the UAE-( Number of claims submitted and approved will not cross the 12 months altogether even if claim is normal)

The Central Bank of the UAE has introduced a New 1000 Dirham Bank Note yesterday. The note has various security features and is made in polymer instead of traditional paper.

The images in the banknote show images of UAE’s technological advancement in the changing times and the spirit of the Union with a picture of the father of the nation on both sides.

The front side of the note has images of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the model of a space shuttle. The other side has Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s picture and UAE’s Mars project related to Astronaut’s image. The same side has Abu Dhabi-based Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant’s image as well.

The material it is made with is Polymer. It has more than two times longer life than the normal paper currency note. It is completely recyclable too. Also, it has the fluorescent blue marks of the UAE nation brand in the center. Moreover, it has drawings and inscriptions created using advanced intaglio printing techniques.

To combat counterfeiting, the banknote has a multi-colored KINEGRAM surface applied foil stripe. To help blind and visually impaired consumers to recognize the note, the Braille symbols are also maintained in the note.
The bank note will be available in the bank branches and ATMs all over the UAE by first of 2023 as the Central Bank notification.

How Much Amount an NRI Send to A Friend in India Now

The Indian government had changed the limit of the amount a Non-Resident Indian can send to a non-blood-relative.  The Ministry of Home Affairs has changed a few rules related to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) recently.  As per the information released in this regard at the beginning of July 2022, an Indian can receive up to Rs 10 lakh in a year. From relatives staying abroad without informing the authorities.

The amount earlier was having an upper limit of Rs 1 lakh.  The notification from the Home Ministry informs that in case of more amount was received, the time limit to inform the government is increased to 90 days from earlier 30.

The revised rules related to Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment – 2022, are published through a gazette notification on 01 July 2022.

The amendment of Rule 6 that describes funds received from relatives reads:

“In the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Rules, 2011, in rule 6, — for the words “one lakh rupees”, the words “ten lakh rupees” shall be substituted; and for the words “thirty days”, the words “three months” shall be substituted,” the notification said.

The previous description of the rule was: “any person receiving foreign contribution in excess of Rs 1 lakh or equivalent thereto in a financial year from any of his relatives shall inform the central government (details of funds) within 30 days from the receipt of such contribution”.

Not only Rule 6 but there is a change in Rule 9 that deals with the application of obtaining ‘registration’ or ‘prior permission’ under the FCRA to receive funds, the amended rules have given individuals and organizations or NGOs 45 days to inform the home ministry about bank account (s) that are to be used for utilization of such funds. This time limit was 30 days earlier.

There is a change in Rule 13 also.  The provision ‘b’ in the rule had been removed.  This had details of declaring foreign funds including donor’s details, amount received, date of receipt, etc. every quarter on its website. As per new changes, anyone receiving foreign funds under the FCRA must follow the existing provision of submitting the audited statement of accounts on receipts and utilization of the foreign contribution.  Also, this should include income and expenditure statement, receipt and payment account, and balance sheet for every financial year beginning on the first day of April.  This must be done within nine months of the closure of the financial year, on its official website, or on the website as specified by the government.

In the event of a change in bank account details, name, address, aims or key members of the organization (s) receiving foreign funds, the same can be informed to the government within 45 days of the change.  Earlier, the time period given was only 15 days.

There was a tough amendment to the FCRA rule in the month of November 2020 by the Ministry of Foreign affairs.  Then it stated to all NGOs that, they may not be directly linked to a political party but engage in political action like bandhs, strikes, or road blockades will be considered of political nature if they participate in active politics or party politics.

In this, all organizations including farmers’ organizations, students, workers’ organizations, and caste-based organizations are covered.  Also, the amendment of FCRA restricted public servants from receiving foreign funding and made Aadhaar mandatory for every office-bearer of NGOs.

The amended law also clarifies that organizations receiving foreign can use only 20% of the same for administrative expenses.  Administration-related exepnses were limited at 50% earlier.

All NGOs receiving funds must be registered under FCRA as per the MOFA rules.

The Central Bank of UAE had released New AED 10 Currency note made in Polymer.  The note is having latest international standards and technologies.   CBUAE is using enhanced technical specifications and high – quality security features to combat counterfeiting of the national currency.   The note is also having symbols in Braille to help blind and visually impaired users to identify the banknotes.

The distinctive features of this banknote includes a transparent window featuring a portrait of the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the logo of the UAE nation brand with fluorescent drawings and inscriptions created using advanced intaglio printing techniques.

The new ten dirham banknote has the image of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi.  Also it has an image of the Khorfakkan amphitheatre and cultural landmarks of Sharjah.

The 10 Dirham will come into circulation on 21st April The new note is not replacing the old one.  Both new and old currencies will be in circulation as per CB.
