RTA Parking Charges
Public Car Parking Payment Methods Available in Dubai
For using public car parking, there are 9 (nine) different methods available in Dubai arranged by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). According to the convenience of the user and availability of funds and easiness of usage, one can opt from the following methods:
- Cash – Most of the parking machines are accepting coins to pay parking fees. The machine will accept coins of 50 fils and 1 Dirham denomination. These machines will deliver a paper ticket and that ticket needs to be placed on the windshield or dashboard of the car. The parking inspector should be able to read the details on the ticket to avoid a penalty situation.
- NOL Card – After the cash, this is the most used method for paying parking fees in Dubai. NOL card is a multi-purpose card that can be used for paying bus fare, park entrance fee, abra fee, etc. It is an RTA branded prepaid card that comes in a chip-based plastic card that looks like a credit card. One can fill any amount in a card before usage. The life span of a card is three years after the first purchase.
- Season Cards – This is another form of prepaid card form for parking payment. The cards are issued on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis fee structure. Buying a yearly pass is economical when per hour fee is calculated.
- Mobile App – RTA mobile app is another mode to pay the fee. It is available in Google Playstore and Apple App Store. Even though the app helps to pay the fee, it has much more services than the fee payment. It helps to find the nearest taxi station, RTA service center, bus station, Metro Station, etc. Also, many booking facilities related to the public transport system are incorporated in it.
- Credit & Debit Cards with RFID – The bank cards with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system allows to pay the RTA parking fee.
- SMS – Users can also pay parking fees by using Short Message Services (SMS) through their mobile phones with UAE SIM Cards. The number to send the message is 7275. There is a format for car numbers issued from different emirates and countries. It is both available in Arabic and English.
- Samsung Pay – It is a payment gateway that is trending with smartphones operating with the Android system. Samsung is the largest Android phone category in the region and Samsung pay is one of the preferred payment systems opted by users.
- Apple Pay – Like Samsung pay, Apple pay is also a popular payment system in the parking fee sector. It is the second-largest gadget system operational in the UAE after Android.
- NFC – Near Field Communication enabled gadgets are another option to pay the parking fee. The NFC system works with a debit or credit card and or a bank account linked to the NFC Payment app installed in the gadget. It is one of the easiest ways to make any kind of payment. Just need to tap the phone or gadget to the payment collecting device – and that’s all.
